When it comes to phrasing, little changes can have a big impact on the page–affecting a piece’s pacing, rhythm, meaning and even emotional impact.
And while some might think our “voice” is a matter of instinct or just too personal to tinker with, savvy writers know otherwise. Prose style is like any other point of writing craft: a series of choices that help further or hinder our vision as well as our connection to readers. The more we learn about these choices, the more effective–and adaptive–we become as writers.
This hands-on workshop is for anyone wanting to improve their prose control: novelists, poets, playwrights, essayists, even those who do not identify as creative writers (yet!).
As we play with language, we’ll feel our fluidity of expression improve, all while deepening our understanding of the effect our choices exert on the reader.
3 hours. All genres. No previous writing workshop experience required.
